There are three types of visa available :

1- THE TRANSIT VISA : It is granted to any foreigner transiting through Burkina Faso. Its validity cannot exceed five (05) days.

The transit visa can serve as an entry and residence visa for the traveler in interrupted transit in the following cases :

  • Immobilization of the means of transport due to damage or breakdown
  • Waiting for a connection
  • Any other case of force majeure left to the discretion of the authority.

 

2- THE SHORT STAY VISA : This is a visa whose validity period cannot exceed ninety (90) days. It is granted to any foreigner who comes to Burkina Faso for reasons of tourism, business or family visit. The beneficiary’s length of stay is determined based on the information provided in the application. The short-stay visa is issued for one or more entries. The short-stay visa issued for a single entry allows the beneficiary to stay for a maximum of ninety (90) days. The short-stay visa for multiple entries allows the beneficiary to make several stays without exceeding ninety (90) days. The short-stay visa does not give the beneficiary the right to exercise employment on the national territory without prior authorization from the minister in charge of labor.

 

3- THE LONG-STAY VISA : The long-stay visa is a visa whose validity period is greater than ninety (90) days. The long-stay visa issued for multiple entries is considered a circulation visa. In this case, the total duration of stays cannot exceed ninety days per semester.
